A memorial service will be held for Evelyn Haggard on Saturday, January 16, 2016, 2:00 p.m. at The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Lexington, TN.
Mrs. Haggard died in her home early Tuesday morning, January 12, 2016, at the age of 96.
Evelyn was born December 10, 1919 in Commerce, Georgia. She is preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Dallas Haggard. They lived in Miami, Florida for 32 years and raised their two children there before moving to the mountains of Sylva, North Carolina. They lived in Sylva for 30 years before making their final home in Lexington, TN.
She is survived by her son, Kenneth Haggard and wife, Jane of Lexington, TN and her daughter, Sharon Myers and husband, Jimmy of Sylva, North Carolina; her 2 sisters, Betty Lorenz of Miami, Florida and Doris Parker of Fruitland Park, Florida; 5 grandchildren, Lennon Haggard, Dylan Haggard, and Devin (Danal) Maness, all of Lexington, TN, Denine (Matt) Dowling of Ashville, North Carolina, and Teneile (Scott) Pickett of Ashville, North Carolina; and 6 great grandchildren.
Evelyn was a kind, loving, and gracious woman who will be missed dearly. She always wore a smile and was appreciative of all she had. Her family is comforted by the Bible’s truth about death and the resurrection hope.
