Eva June Elliott Thompson, 87, of Sheffield, AL was called to her eternal home on the morning of September 23, 2024. She was a loving wife and dedicated Christian. She was a member of Tri- Cities Church of Christ.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 25, 2024 from 12-2 p.m. at Colbert Memorial Chapel with a service to follow at 2 p.m. in the chapel. Family will be welcomed at 11 a.m. Stacy Crim and Mitchell Dalrymple will be officiating. Burial will be in Colbert Memorial Gardens. She was the wife to Don Thompson.
Unfortunately, she had suffered from the robbing disease of dementia. She was taken care of by her husband for the many years during the progression of the disease.
Eva June was born on December 11, 1936 in Barton, AL to John and Vannie Dowdy. She worked most of her adult life as a beautician. On February 14, 2004 she marries, Don Thompson after her childhood sweetheart of 50 years of marriage passed away, but enjoyed 20 years of a Christian man who she spent the rest of her years with.
Eva June had a passion to help those who needed help. She had compassionate spirit. Sometimes she cooked and invited her fellow Christians to a fantastic supper and fellowship. She was a poet and wrote many poems to express how she was feeling to comfort someone that had lost a loved one. I would like for you to remember me by living the rest of your life in Christ and his Grace.
Eva June is survived by her husband, Donald Thompson of Sheffield, AL; step son, Brian Thompson; son-in-law, Giles Bickert of Indianapolis, IN; her only living sibling, her brother, Donald Dowdy (Joyce) of Clearwater, FL. Step grandchildren, Jonathan, Jordan, Jake Thompson; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Vannie Dowdy; first husband, Chester Elliott; daughter, Judy Bickert; sisters, Hazel Barker (Billy) and Kathryn Wheeler; brothers, William Dowdy (Nelda), Ralph Dowdy (Rose), and Hershell Dowdy (Jannie).
Pallbearers will be Larry Dowdy, Will Dowdy, Randy Cowart, Randy Elliott, and Jonathan Thompson.
