Eva Jean Orrick Bates, age 82, of Red Bay, passed away March 6, 2014. Visitation will be Sunday, March 9, from 1-2 p.m. at Spry Williams Funeral Home, Florence. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Chad Balentine officiating. Entombment will be at Shoals Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Tuscumbia.
Mrs. Bates was preceded in death by her husband, Niles D. Bates.
She is survived by children, Terry Bates (Carol), Garry Bates, Lanny Bates, and Jamie Bates; siblings, Kay Schultz, Bartow, Fla., Gordon Orrick, Winter Haven, Fla., Peggy Hubbard, Red Bay, and W.C. Orrick, Red Bay; grandchildren, Leigh Ann Bates, Preston Bates, Devin Bates, Matthew Bates, Brandy Bates, and John Nicholas Bates; and four great-grandchildren.
