Mrs. Euphie “Sue” Hester, 88, of Florence, died Thursday March 20, 2014, following a brief illness. Visitation will begin at 10 am today at Greenview Funeral Home with the service set to begin at 11 am in the funeral home chapel. Brother Gerald Borden will officiate. Burial will be in Railroad Cemetery.
She was born in Lauderdale County to the late Newton Lindsey Liles and Mary Roberta Dial Liles. Sue was a member of the Baptist church and retired from Genesco as a seamstress. She and her husband were accomplished ballroom dancers who made many friends doing this. She was also an expert quilter and porcelain doll maker.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Eldon Hester; son, James Thomas Bevis; two sisters and eight brothers. Surviving are her sons, William Doyle Bevis, Florence and Jimmy Ray Bevis, Melbourne, FL; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her faithful companion of seven years, Mollie.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
