Obituary of Joyce Barnes A Celebration of Life Service for Eula Joyce Calvery Barnes, 84, is set for 11:00 AM, Wednesday at West Corinth Baptist Church with Bro. Andy Reeves and Bro. Seth Kirkland officiating. Burial will follow in the Magnolia Gardens.

A Family and Friends Gathering will be Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00 at Memorial Funeral Home and Wednesday from 10:00 to service time at the church.

Born September 2, 1941, in Alcorn Co. MS, Joyce was the daughter of the late Elton and Myrtle Calvery. She graduated from Corinth High School in 1959 and later attended Northeast MS Community College.

Her faith was central to her life. Joyce was the oldest and longest member of West Corinth Baptist Church, where she started the Senior Adult Class. She remained active until her death, a testament to the steadfast commitment with which she served her church family.

Joyce was a homemaker with a steady presence and devoted care that shaped the daily lives of those she loved. In all seasons, she carried herself with a faithful spirit and a loyalty that could be counted on—quietly, consistently, and without need for recognition. A sports fan at heart, Joyce especially enjoyed cheering for Ole Miss and the Atlanta Braves, following her teams with enduring enthusiasm.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Everett “Leon” Barnes, Sr.; daughter, Judy Winfield McCoy; grandson, Dustin Brown; parents; brothers, Cleaton Clavery, Lennon Calvery; and sister, Geraldine Calvery.

She is survived by her sons, Everette “Rusty” Barnes, Jr. and Bobby W. Barnes; daughter, Melissa Ann Brown; grandchildren, Meredith Barnes Snyder (Matt), Annelise Barnes, Daniel Galyean (Laura), Jordan Brown, Vannah Brown, and Logan Barnes; great-grandchildren, Sarah Noel Snyder, Reese Ann Snyder, and several other great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins that she loved, and her church family.

Honorary pallbearers are Deacons of West Corinth Baptist Church, David Maddox, Chris Maddox, Jeff Barnes, Robert Briggs, Ken Briggs, and Dr. Mike Weedon.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to West Corinth Baptist Church in c/o the Senior Adult Class or Baptist Children Village.

Online condolences may be left at www.memorialcorinth.com for the Barnes family.

Memorial Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.
