Eugene Wood, 93, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 7, 2022. He was born March 15, 1929 in East Limestone County, AL.
Gene was a member of Sherwood Baptist Church in Huntsville, a faithful Christian and a very good man. He was a Korean War veteran, reaching the rank of M/Sgt. in eight months and earning two purple hearts. His professional life was spent as an investment banker, having arranged financing for several important businesses and ventures throughout the United States.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Floyd and Nettie Irene Schrimsher Wood; sister, Ruby Layer; and four brothers: James, Buford, Houston and Milton Wood.
Gene is survived by his wife of 40 years, Betty Rozell Wood; stepdaughter, Jennifer Weber, of Chattanooga, TN; sister, Tula Anerton; special nephew, Danny Wood, of Athens; and several other beloved nieces and nephews.
Viewing will be Saturday, April 9th from 1:00 – 2:00 PM at Fairview Baptist Church in Limestone County followed by funeral at 2:00 with Rev. Robby Boyd officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Due to the uncertainty of COVID and the vulnerability of some attendees, the family requests that everyone wear a mask.
