Eugene “Pastor Mac” McElhannon – Obituary

Rev. Eugene “Pastor Mac” McElhannon, 84, husband of Dorothy “Dot” Tench McElhannon, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, March 10, 2014.

Born in Anderson County, he was a son of the late Eugene Sr. and Annie Mae Osborne McElhannon. Rev. McElhannon was a graduate of Furman University and Clemson University and attended Holmes Theological Seminary. He was an ordained minister for 60 years with the International Pentecostal Holiness Church and pastored churches in Landrum, Greenville, Newberry, and Fountain Inn before retiring from Emmanuel Praise and Worship Center (Revolution Church) in 2009. Rev. McElhannon was also an educator and counselor at Gray Court-Owings School for 14 years. He was a caring and compassionate husband and father. He pastored and ministered to many people and continued to praise the Lord even through his illness. In addition to his wife of 66 years, Rev. McElhannon is survived by one daughter, Sharon Willis and husband, Tony; one son, David McElhannon; four grandchildren, Shawna Neal, Michelle Nunn and husband, Derek, Jason McElhannon and wife, Candace, and Josh Willis; four great- grandchildren, Zach, Lauren, Kylie and Gavin; one brother, James McElhannon and wife, Sara; and two sisters, Juanita Patterson and husband, Lee, and Elizabeth Johnson. He was predeceased by one son, Donald Eugene McElhannon.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 14, 2014, at 2 p.m. at Revolution Church, 619 Fairview Street, Fountain Inn, conducted by Rev. Tony Willis, Rev. Ronald Moore and Bishop Ray Boggs with entombment to follow in Graceland East Memorial Park. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at Cannon Funeral Home, Fountain Inn.
