Ms. Ettie Chrisman Bell of Scottsboro passed away Friday, February 11, 2022 at Highlands Medical after a fall at her home and a brief illness. Ettie was born to the late Robert F Chrisman and Ettie Sherill Chrisman on September 17, 1939. After the death of her mother when she was 8 years old, Ettie went to live with her mother’s sister, the late Ossie Sherrill Wallingsford and her husband, the late Ollie Wallingsford. Mr and Mrs. Wallingsford became loving parents to Ettie and adoring grandparents to Ettie’s children.

Ettie is survived by her son Robbie Bell and his wife Jennifer, her daughter Anne Gibson and her husband Bill, her grandchildren Katherine Betts Gibson, Reilly Morgan Bell and Thomas Sandifer Gibson.

Ettie is also survived by her brother Cleaburn Chrisman, his wife Linda, and Velma Chrisman the widow of her brother Bill Chrisman.

Ettie was preceded in death by a sister, Nona Bradford and her husband Walter, brothers Bill Chrisman, Clair Edwin Chrisman and his wife Sallie, and Archie Chrisman.

Ettie made loving and lasting relationships with those around her. The most special of these was with her cousin Mattie Lee Davis and her husband Roy. She was also very close to her neighbors on Dawson Street where she resided for the last fifty years. Jean Arnold is the last original member of that group and they remained very close until the end. Ettie is also survived by a her friend Barbara Miller who has been a constant source of comfort to her family by seeing her almost daily and letting her children know when she thought her friend needed a little assistance as Ettie was fiercely independent.

A graveside service will be held Monday, at 2:00pm at Pinehaven Memorial Gardens with Scottsboro Funeral home assisting her family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Scottsboro/Jackson County Animal Shelter.
