Funeral services for Mrs. Ester East, age 79, of Ashland, AL will be held on Wednesday, April 19th 2023 at 2:00 P.M, at Benefield Funeral Home of Ashland with Rev. Kenneth Fuller and Rev. Jason Watkins officiating. Burial will follow at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery (South).
Mrs. East passed away on Sunday April 16, 2023 at UAB hospital in Birmingham. She was a resident of Ashland, AL, a graduate of Bibb Graves High School, and a devoted pastor’s wife of 47 years. She was a devout Christian who was passionate about her Lord. She loved her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years; Richard East; two children, Tracey Vise (Roger Morris) and Kevin East (Michelle); one brother, Bernard Cox; four grandchildren: Devin Vise (Cody), Ariona East, Josie East, Joni East; three great grandchildren: Kacen, Kaizleigh, and Blakely.
Mrs. East was preceded in death by her parents: Royden and Odessa Strickling Cox; two brothers, Royden Cox Jr. and Charles Cox.
Pallbearers will be Adam Strickling, Doyle Smith, Joey Cox, Scotty Cox, Warry Sexton, and Mickey Cox.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Joe East, Mavis Keahey, Linda Branch, and Johnny Burdette.
Family will receive friends at Benefield Funeral Home of Ashland on Tuesday, April 18th 2023 from 5:30 P.M.-8:00 P.M., and until service time on Wednesday.
Flowers will be accepted, however the family prefers memorial contributions in memory of Mrs. East be made to the Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery Fund at 1801 Bethel Circle Cragford, Alabama 36255
