She was a 35 year employee of JC Penny. Essie was a lifelong member of the North Green Street Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years Lorenzo Mayfield, her parents Adell and Pauline Elliott, 2 sisters Annie Ruth Holloway, and Ervin Agnew,
2 brothers Clifton Elliott, and Eddie Elliot.
She leaves behind 4 children:
