Essie Cummings transitioned to her eternal life on November 12, 2022 surrounded by family.  She was a retired business owner, accomplished voice/music teacher and founding member of New Temple Baptist Church in Fulton, MS.  Early in her music career, she received a lucrative vocal/piano invitation that would have required a move to New York; however, she turned it down because she did not feel it was aligned with God’s purpose for her life.

A vivid memories and celebrations of her life are cherished by the many “adopted” children and loved ones she embraced over the years.  Further, she is survived by three biological children, Larry Tolbert (Chicago), Victoria Bobo (Forrest) and Ormella Cummings (LeRoy) of Fulton.

In Lieu of flowers, the family is asking all touched by the 100 years (and eight months) of her purpose-driven life to consider donating to a charity or local church to impact the countless social needs of our local communities.  Although there will be no public service, the family is forever grateful to all the care teams, individuals and providers who devoted their time, talent and heartfelt compassion to ensure all her earthly needs were met.

Condolences to the family may be posted at hollandfuneraldirectors.com.  Holland Funeral Directors-Tupelo Chapel is honored to be entrusted with arrangements.
