Esmond (Buddy) Wilburn, Jr. Esmond (Buddy) Wilburn, Jr. born in Huntsville, Alabama on September 16, 1940, he passed onto his eternal life February 18, 2023.

Buddy, as he was known to everyone, retired from Huntsville Police Department after 31 years of dedication. Over the years of his career as a police officer he worked many part-time jobs as police security at Loveman’s, McDonald’s on Max Luther, Whitesburg Baptist Church, and the Sportsplex. He coached youth basketball in north Huntsville for many years, where he won state championships with his team from Lakewood Community Center. He really loved Alabama football and he was affiliated with many car clubs around the area.

Survived by his wife, Rebecca Linkins Wilburn, sons, David (Amy) and Ricky; sister-in-law, Jane Wilburn; stepsons, Phillip (Harley) Adams and Michael Adams; grandchildren, Jesse (Lenura), Terri (Ronnie) Beachum, Mark (Kelly), Chloe, Alec Adams, Sebastian Boyd, Hunter Martin and Coulson Adams; and six great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by his parents, Doris Collins and Esmond Wilburn; brother, Steve (Tinker) Wilburn and sister, Connie Lassiter.

Visitation will be Saturday, February 25, 2023 at Berryhill Funeral Home from 2:00 to 4:00 PM. Services will follow in the Chapel with Rev. Hal Howard officiating.
