Funeral service for Ernestine Maples age 88 of Gardendale will be Wednesday, October 6, 2021 at 3:00pm at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Ben Bates officiating with burial in the New Center Cemetery with Peck Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.

 

Ms. Maples, who was born December 14, 1932 in Morgan County to Ernest and Ivy Hughes Maples, died on Saturday, October 2, 2021 at her home. Ernestine served as a Methodist Minister’s wife for over 25 years. She taught Sunday School, played the piano and organ and assisted in children’s choir. She loved music, especially classical music and hymns and she taught piano lessons as well. She worked for over 20 years at Orr’s Drapery in Decatur and sewed clothes for herself, her children and her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Don Maples and her husband, Rev. James Maples

 

She loved her daughters, Robin Maples and Sharon Craiger (Barry), her grandsons, Adam Craiger (Jennifer) and Preston Craiger (Alayna); her great-grandchildren, Luke Craiger, Aaron Craiger and Paisley Craiger.

 

Family and Friends will serve as pallbearers
