Ernest Sanford “Sam” Scarborough, 76, of Muscle Shoals, Alabama, died Saturday, October 21, 2017. The visitation will be Tuesday, Oct. 24th from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. His funeral service will be Wednesday, Oct. 25th at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Thomas Thornton officiating. Burial will follow at Colbert Memorial Gardens.

Sam was a native of North, South Carolina. He was born August 20, 1941 to Ernest and Mary Elizabeth “Polly” Scarborough. He married the love of his life, Nancy on August 7, 1972. Sam and Nancy moved to Muscle Shoals in 1973 when he was transferred to Sheffield while working for Wagstaff Hardware. In 1981, he ventured out on his own and opened Scarborough Door and Hardware in Florence where he had the most loyal employees, whom he thought of as family. Through the years he opened and partnered with others, helping them to pursue their business endeavors. Sam and Nancy opened Brass Hardware and Accessories of Florence in the mid 1990’s. He was inducted into the Home Builders Association Hall of Fame in 2010. Sam enjoyed being a part of many organizations throughout the years, where he met and made many friends. He was a kind and generous man with a loving heart who touched many lives. He was thankful for his family, friends, and the special times they all shared. He was full of life, enjoyed sharing his life stories, entertaining others, and loved Auburn football. He will be truly missed.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Eulene and son, Roger Treadway.

Sam is survived by his children Ben Treadway and wife Harriet of Marietta, Georgia, Lynne Collins and husband Dennis of Winchester, Virginia, and Leslie Justice and husband Tim of Muscle Shoals, Alabama; brother, Robert Scarborough and wife Katheryn of West Columbia, South Carolina; sister, Mary Beth Poston of Orangeburg, South Carolina; grandchildren, Brooke Skidmore, Drew Collins, Tyler Treadway, Allison Bonifay, Whit Treadway, Rosalyn Treadway, Roger Treadway, Hannah Rutledge and Matthew Justice; great-grandchildren, Gabriel, Sawyer, Charlotte, Maddox and Gideon; nieces, nephews and a host of friends whom he enjoyed.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
