Ernest Owen Walls, age 79 of Decherd, passed away on Monday, August 29, 2022, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. A native of Franklin County, he was born on April 8, 1943, to the late JD and Louise (Bennett) Walls. Owen had been employed at the Hat Factory and Wilton, before retiring from Samuel Strapping. He then went back to work at Russell Barnett Ford, where he eventually retired from. Owen had drove to all continental forty-nine states, missing Hawaii because there was no road there. He enjoyed watching the Atlanta Braves, University of Tennessee Volunteers, and NASCAR. Owen was a dedicated member of Gum Creek Cumberland Presbyterian Church for his entire life. He will be remembered for his strong determination to accomplish things he wanted to do. Owen is survived by his loving and devoted wife of fifty-nine years, Kathleen (Hill) Walls of Decherd; children, Angie (Brent) Spencer of Decherd, and Jason (Kasi) Walls of Decherd; grandchildren, Dakota McKinney of Winchester, Lyle (Kayla) McKinney of Winchester, and Lexi (Hunter) Hall of McMinnville; great-grandchildren, Emma McKinney, Anna McKinney, Noah McKinney, Mazelyn Johnson, and Luna Hall; sister, Beverly (Kerry) Denney of Decherd; several nieces, nephews, and friends; and best friend, Kenny Blanton. Visitation will be from 5-8pm on Thursday, September 1, 2022, at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00pm on Friday, September 2, 2022, in the Moore-Cortner Chapel with Bro. Gary Tubb and Bro. Rocky Whray officiating and Angie Spencer speaking.
