Ernest Albert Stafford, age 83 of Winchester, passed away on Saturday, December 16, 2023, at V.A. Medical Center in Murfreesboro. He was born on September 28, 1940, in Tracy City to the late Ernest Elmore and Mildred Elizabeth (Sanders) Stafford and was a graduate of Franklin County High School, where he played football. Albert was a veteran of the United States Air Force, serving during the Vietnam Era. Before his retirement, he had been employed by the Franklin County School System as a bus driver for over forty years. Albert enjoyed working on cars and going to flea markets with his wife to sale her baked goods. A kind and loving man, he always strived to help others. He and his wife, Loretta, served as foster parents for over ten years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Loretta (Guffey) Stafford; siblings, Bob (Freida) Stafford, Dorothy (Jimmy) Stewart, Terry (Kathy) Stafford, and Mary (John) Daniel; and daughter, Sherri Renee’ Rich. Albert is survived by his loving children, Beth Shepherd, and Ernie Stafford; grandchildren, Ben Elliott, Tommy Elliott, Christin (Randy) Owens, Melinda Stewart, and Wendy Stewart; great-grandchildren, Leslie, Adam, Chris, Hayley, Little Randy, Trayce, Gracie, Taylor, Skylar, Lucie, and Henry; brother, Jerry (Bonnie) Stafford; and foster children, Jenny Thorpe, Cindy Dotson, and Dawn Millsaps. Visitation will be from 5-8 pm on Tuesday, December 19, 2023, at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, in the Chapel of Moore-Cortner Funeral Home.
