Emolyn Salter Floyd – Obituary

Emolyn Salter Floyd, 96 of Tuscumbia, passed away on November, 14, 2016. She was a native of Hueytown AL and graduated from Hueytown High School. She was a registered nurse who graduated from Hillman Hospital School of Nursing in Birmingham, AL in 1942 and was retired from Helen Keller Hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband, Niles Vernon Floyd, Sr., mother, Cynthia Hawkins and great-grandson, Walker Scott Floyd.

Her family will receive friends Wednesday, 10-12p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia.
The graveside service will follow at 12:30 p.m. in Oakwood Cemetery, Sheffield with Dr. Scott Sealy officiating.

She is survived by her sons: Niles Floyd (Scottie), Douglas Floyd (Terry) all of Tuscumbia; Herbert Floyd (Teresa), of Hattiesburg, MS; Melvin Floyd (Vonda) of Cherokee; and daughter, Cissy Bishop (Luther) of Cherokee. Her sister, Louise Farr of Bessemer, AL. Her grandchildren; Sue Floyd-Deaton (Dennis);Tripp Floyd (Dawn); Hope Williams (Eric); Katherine Hall (Justin); Tyler Floyd (Jennifer); Mac and Emily Floyd; Michele Jones (Jonathan); Lauren Freeman (Scottie). Her great-grandchildren: Taylor Floyd; Mary Chandler Floyd; Denby, Nash and Pierce Williams; Alex Hall; Daniel and William Floyd; G. and Leighton Freeman.

Serving as pallbearers are Dennis Deaton, Tripp Floyd, Eric Williams, Justin Hall, Tyler Floyd, Mac Floyd, Jonathan Jones and Scottie Freeman.

Honorary Pallbearers are Lance Young, Lee Young and Bart Bodkin.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Samaritan’s Purse or to St. Jude’s.

Mrs. Floyd’s family would like to thank Dr. Ronald McCoy and all Emolyn’s caregivers with a special thank you to Gayzell Pride and Grace Gunn.
