Emma Lou Benzenhafer Dobbs, 77, of Huntsville, passed away Wednesday, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Born and raised in Nashville, TN, Emma was a loving housewife, Christian lady, and generous caregiver. She loved taking care of her grandkids and extended family. She was a longtime member of the Church of Christ.
Emma was preceded in death by her husband, Ray B. Dobbs; parents, George W. and Mattie Kathrine Benzenhafer; and brother, James “Jim” Edward Benzenhafer.
Survivors include daughters, Sandra Gallagher and Linda Glenn; son, R. Bruce Dobbs Jr.; grandchildren, Sean Vess, Ashley Vess, Nicole Glenn, and Brandon Glenn; great-grandchild, Draco Lucas Vess; brother, George Guy Benzenhafer; and sister, Phyllis Fuhrer.
Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at 2 p.m. at Huntsville Memory Gardens with Brother Mark Little officiating.
Memorials may be made to Cancer Care Institute or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
