It is with regret we announce the passing of Mrs. Emma Jean O’Neal Watson, age 95, of Fayetteville, TN. A graveside service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, February 12, 2022, at Wright’s Cemetery with Bro. Tom Russell officiating. Visitation with the family will be from 5 pm to 8 pm on Friday, February 11, 2022, at Higgins Funeral Home.
Mrs. Watson was born January 1, 1927, in the Hughey community to the late James Ellison “Jack” and Mary Amanda Gunter O’Neal. She was a homemaker and a member of McBurg Church of Christ. Mrs. Watson enjoyed being outside on the farm, milking her Jersey Cows, gardening, and canning. She loved her family and especially enjoyed supporting them at their sporting events. Mrs. Watson passed away February 7, 2022, at Donalson Care Center.
Survivors include her sons, Wayne (Carol) Watson of Vinemont, AL, Neal (Vonnie) Watson of Fayetteville, Jed (Scarlet) Watson of Petersburg, and Kelly Watson of Fayetteville; grandchildren, Chris (Lisa) Watson, Amanda (Chris) Defoe, Lindsay Callahan, Ashley McCain, Reilly Watson, Meleia Watson, Hunter (Anna) Watson, and Mackenzie Watson; great-grandchildren, Dane Watson, Robert (Brionna) Watson, Jennifer (Jeremy) Elrod, Brittany (Buddy) Lowell, Candace Brownfield, Brooke Brownfield, Cole Defoe, Carson Defoe, Alivia Phelps, and Walker McCain; four great-great-grandchildren; and her sister, Helen Mitchell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Thomas Watson, and brothers, Smith O’Neal and Ellison O’Neal.
