Emma Cooper Goode, 89, passed from this life on August 12, 2026. The family will receive friends Saturday, August 15, from 10 a.m. until noon at the Rogersville Church of Christ. A memorial service will follow.
A lifelong resident of Rogersville, Alabama, and a graduate of Lauderdale County High School, Emma treasured her friendships with the class of 1955. She was a faithful member of the Rogersville Church of Christ, and a wonderful homemaker; her door was always open for friends and family to gather. While Emma took great pride in her community, church family, and travels, having been to all fifty states in her lifetime, her greatest joy was time spent with family and specifically with those who called her “Maw maw.”
She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-one years, Delma Goode; daughter Cindy Davis; parents Faires and Annie Cooper; sisters Bonnie Joiner, Robbie King, Joyce McLemore, Betty Whitehead; and her brother Faires Cooper, Jr.
Survivors include her husband, Earl Smith, Rogersville; sons Tim Goode (Renee) of Florence, and Jeffrey Goode (Linda) of Huntsville; six grandchildren: Wesley Davis, Hunter Davis, Katie Meek (David), Christopher Goode (Hannah Abram), Riley Bredel (Rene), and Linzee Goode; eleven great-grandchildren; sister Eula Francis Goode (Allen) of Rogersville; sister-in-law Nancy Cooper, also of Rogersville; and several nieces and nephews left to cherish her memory.
Pallbearers will be Wesley Davis, Hunter Davis, Christopher Goode, David Meek, Dr. Rene Bredel, Joel Whitehead, Mark Bailey, and Bobby Beddingfield.
The family wishes to thank all those who have lovingly attended her so well during these last two years: Katrina, Rasheda, SaQuita, Martha Jane, and Sharon. In addition, Emma’s family also expresses heartfelt gratitude to Hospice of Limestone County, Aderholt Medical, Dr. Robert Mann, and Dr. David Greer for their compassionate support.
