Funeral for Elwyn Monroe Stephenson, 79, will be 5 p.m. today, March 21, 2016 at Rock Springs Presbyterian Church with visitation from 2 p.m. until service time at the church. Doug Dickson, Ronnie Holt and Rickey Johnson is officiating and Lawrence Funeral Home directing.
Mr. Stephenson, who died March 19, 2016, at his residence was born December 15, 1936 in Lawrence County to the late Monroe Stephenson and Ruthie Martin Stephenson. He was a member of Rock Springs Presbyterian Church. He served in the National Guard and retired from Monsanto after 39 years. He was honored in the 1996 Lawrence County Sports Hall of Fame.
He is survived by his wife, Melba Hunt Stephenson; sons, Stan Stephenson and Cindy, Mt. Hope and Bart Stephenson and Karen, Trinity; daughter, Kandi Pickens and Randy, Mt. Hope; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brothers, Johnny Stephenson and Betty, Moulton, Billy Stephenson and Linda, Hillsboro.
Family will serve as pallbearers.
