Watson-North Funeral Home is honored to be of service and ministry to the family of Elvie Tate Biddle, age 76 of Sewanee. She was born in Huntland, TN June 20, 1941 to Tom and Esther Tate. She departed this world on April 8, 2018 at the Willows of Winchester Nursing Home. Mrs. Biddle graduated from Townsend High School in 1958. She was a talented athlete and used that gift playing on the basketball team at Townsend. She worked in Sewanee for a number of years as a housekeeper. Mrs. Biddle loved reading, watching documentaries, studying history and gathering the true facts of every situation. She will be remembered for her cooking and especially her tasty cornbread. She is survived by one sister, Queen Alice Spraggins of Sewanee; brother, William D. (Irene) Tate of Cowan; sister-in-law, Barbara L. (Tommy) Tate also of Cowan, TN; aunt Susie Baker of Elyira, OH; nieces, Annette Berry, Lisa Jane Floyd, Alissa Pugh, Tanja Page and one devoted niece, Shirley Gray; nephews, Ricky Tate, Wayne Palmer and David L. Tate; 4 great-nieces and 5 great-nephews. The family will receive friends at All Saint’s Chapel in Sewanee on Thursday April 12, 2018 from 12:30 – 1:00 pm. The funeral ceremony will follow at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Robert Lamborn and Rev. Tom Mc Fee officiating. Interment will be at University Cemetery. Serving as flower bearers will be Shirley Gray, Lisa Jane Floyd, Annette Berry, Linda Tate Pugh and Tanja Page; serving as pallbearers will be Rickey Tate, Graham Page, Ingram Page, David L.
