Elsie Lillian Wallace Pike, 89, a life-long resident of Neel, Alabama passed away on January 3, 2026 at her home. Visitation will be Tuesday, January 6, 2026 from 2:00-3:00 at Neel Methodist Church. The service will begin at 3:00 with Rev. Harold Thompson officiating and Peck funeral home directing. Burial will follow in Johnson Chapel Cemetery.
Elsie was born October 5, 1936 in Morgan County to Virgil and Effie Wallace. She married Edwin Pike on April 3, 1954 and together they built a family and home where she was lovingly known as “Meme.”
Elsie worked at Chemstrand, Matthew’s Machine Co. and retired from Copeland as a material analyst, but the real work was done in her kitchen. Meme spent countless hours preparing Sunday and holiday dinners for family where she never needed a measuring tool, cooking with love and intuition that made each meal amazing. She was a lifelong member of Neel Methodist Church and enjoyed spending time with her family.
She is survived by her two sons, Eddie Pike (Pam) and Mark Pike (Jackie); five grandchildren, Lillie Pike (Will Caruso), David Pike (Lexie), Kyle Pike (Patricia), Andrew Pike and Jay Pike; three sisters, Mary McCay (Johnny), Johnnie Russell and Charlcie Montgomery (Paul); and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Virgil, and Effie Wallace; husband Edwin Pike; three brothers, Leon Wallace, Buddy Wallace, and Donald Wallace; and two sisters, Polly James, and Edith Long.
Serving as pallbearers will be Joel Wallace, Dale Long, Ken James, Keith McCay, Jason Russell, and Charlie Wilbourn.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests considering a donation to Neel Methodist Church Christopher Glyn Russell Scholarship Fund, 261 Wynn-Wallace Road, Hartselle, AL 35640.
