Watson-North Funeral Home is honored to be of service and ministry to the family of Elroy Hill, age 85 of Decherd. Mr. Hill passed away at his home while surrounded by his family in the early morning hours of November 11, 2021. A native of Franklin County, he was a 1955 graduate of Franklin County High School. He was a long-time and dedicated Christian and a loyal member of Warren’s Chapel Church of the Nazarene. He served his church in numerous capacities including Board Member, Sunday School Teacher and Church Treasurer. He spent his working years at the hat factory, Lanier Clothing, M-Tech and Volunteer Engineering where he worked in equipment maintenance, keeping the machinery and sewing machines in top operating condition. His work brought true meaning to the term “well-oiled machine”. In his leisure time he worked his farm in Decherd and often found time for relaxation by fishing. Mr. Hill is preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Neva. Also preceding him in death are his mother and father, Myrtle Kirk Hill and Charlie Wesley Hill; brother, Rev. Charlie Hill. He is survived by his daughters, Debbie (Russ) Godsave of Clarksville, Sherrie McBee of Sewanee and Joy (Jerry) Smith of Winchester; son, Timothy Roy Hill of Decherd; grandchildren, Keith, Ben and Daniel Godsave, Loren Farris, Jonathan McBee Jeremy and Joshua Smith and 4 great-grandchildren; brothers, Buddy (Virginia) Hill and Ray Hill, both of Decherd. The family will receive friends at Watson-North Funeral Home Saturday November 13, 2021 between the hours of 5 and 8 p.m. The funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday November 14, 2021 from the Roy B. Watson Chapel of Watson-North Funeral Home. Interment will follow the funeral service at Mt. Garner Cemetery in Decherd with friends and family members serving as pallbearers.
