Elois [Lois] Lanford Black – Obituary

EloisElois [Lois] Lanford Black age 87, departed her earthly life for her Heavenly home on Friday, May 17, 2013.

Visitation will be Sunday from 6-9 pm at Morrison Funeral Home in Tuscumbia, Al. Funeral services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Highland Park Church of Christ where she was a faithful member for 55 years.

The family will receive visitors one hour before the service. Burial will follow in the Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens in Florence, Al with Larry Kilpatrick officiating.

Preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Claud R. Black, parents C E and Lula Elma Lanford, brothers, Otis, Elbert, Gene and Walker Lanford, and infant sister Mae Lanford.

Survivors include sons, Robert (Lea) Black of Athens, Al, Pete (Peggy) Black of Tuscumbia, Al; daughters, Carolyn (Ronald) Thrasher of Muscle Shoals, Al, Linda (Wayne) Austin of Madison, Al.

Mrs. Black had 9 grandchildren, Chris (Brandy) Black, Cindy Griffith, Darrell Thrasher, Becky (Ashley) Johnson, Randy (Misty) Thrasher, Brent Black, Craig (Monica) Black, Steve (Lexie) Austin and Kristi Austin. She also had 17 great grandchildren.

Pall bearers will be grandsons: Chris Black, Darrell Thrasher, Randy Thrasher, Craig Black, Brent Black, Steve Austin, Ashley Johnson, and great grandsons: Garrett Johnson and Avery Thrasher.

Born in Tuscumbia, Al, and a lifelong resident of Colbert County, Al, she retired from Muscle Shoals Technical School as cafeteria manager. She loved gardening, quilting, crocheting and her cats.
