Elna Iona Foster – Obituary

Mrs. Elna Iona Foster, age 82, wife of Al Foster, and a resident of Columbia, passed away Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at Maury Regional Medical Center.

 

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, December 3, 2017 at 4PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Pastor Rick Points officiating. A visitation will also be held on Sunday from 2-4PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

 

Born on August 3, 1935 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, Elna was the daughter of the late Claude Faulkner and the late Mary Eva Heath Faulkner. Besides her work as a homemaker, she enjoyed baking peanut brittle and canning pickles and relish. She also loved tending to her periwinkle flowers, watching the hummingbirds, and listening to country music. She especially loved taking care of her husband who she was married to for nearly 59 years. Elna was most proud of the kidney transplant she received in 1990 from her sister, Jackie.

 

In addition to her husband, Al, she is survived by her son: A.B. (Melissa) Foster of Columbia; Teena (John) Morgan of Spring Hill; sister: Jackie (Dow) Wooley of Tuscaloosa, AL; grandchildren: Justin (Danielle) Riddle, Zachary (Kristona) Foster, Seth Foster; great grandchildren: Kadance Foster, Paisley Foster, Olivia Riddle; and many nieces and nephews.

 

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings: Buford, Cecil, Travis, Roy Dean, Lanin, and Wayne Faulkner, Mazelle Elmore, Elaine Brown, and Bobby Faulkner.
