Elmer Young Elmer Earl Young was the second oldest of ten children born to the late Elmer and
Annie Ruth Young. He was born on August 4, 1951 in Booneville, Mississippi.
Elmer attended Wick Anderson School.
He worked various odd jobs and was later employed with Morgan Moving
Company until he became disabled. During a period of illness, Elmer moved to
Tupelo, Mississippi, to live with his sister, Brenda Penro. While there, he began
attending Emmanuel Church of God in Christ, pastored by his brother-in-law, Dr.
Jeremiah B. Penro.
Under the sound preaching and teaching of God’s Word, Elmer was convicted in
his heart and accepted salvation. He was saved and sanctified, and the Lord
restored his health, adding many years to his life. After his recovery, Elmer
returned back home to Booneville, Mississippi. Those who knew him before
clearly recognized the transformation in his life and knew that God had changed
his life.
A few months ago, Elmer was diagnosed with another form of cancer. Even so, he
never lost his faith. He often declared, “If God did it once, He can do it again. It’s
in His hands, but if He chooses not to heal me, I have gotten everything in order
with Him.” Elmer lived a life of holiness and faithfulness until the Lord called him
from labor to reward on Saturday, March 28, 2026 a few minutes pass 9 PM.
He is preceded in death by his Father, Elmer young, Mother Annie Ruth Young
and His older brother Johnnie Will Young. He leaves to cherish his memory eight
siblings: Charlie James Young (Claudia) of Booneville, MS; Stella Mae Gaston
(Howard) of Booneville, MS; Brenda Joyce Penro (Myron) of Tupelo, MS; Annie
Jean Penro (Jeremiah) of Tupelo, MS; Bobby Young (Lavell) of Saltillo, MS;
Rosie Brenette Triplett (James) of Booneville, MS; David Lee Young (Donna) of
Guntown, MS; and Jennifer Ann Buggs (Marshall) of Flowood, MS.
He also leaves two children: a daughter, Crystal Yvette Leach, and a son, Chuckie
Lamont Leach, 7grandchildren, 8 great-grand, and a host of nieces, nephews,
relatives, and friends.
Though Elmer Earl Young will be greatly missed, we rejoice in the hope that we
shall see him again in Glory!
