Rev. Elmer E. Smith, 93, Russellville, Alabama passed away Sunday, April 12, 2015 at Terrace Manor Nursing Home.
He was a lifetime resident of Franklin County and member of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church. He was a WWII Veteran and recipient of the bronze star. He was a retired insurance salesman.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, April 14, 2015 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Pinkard Funeral Home, Russellville. Funeral service will be Wednesday, 2 p.m. at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Keith Prince and Bro. Kerry Smith officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery.
Survivors include children, Gary (Amita) Smith, Donnie (Gail) Smith, Ronnie (Anita) Smith, Michael (Cindy) Smith; sister, Ethel Williams; brother-in-law, Doyle Williams; 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be grandsons.
He was preceded in death by wife, Ophelia Jackson Smith; great-grandchild, Brady Thrasher.
