Ellis Thomas Baggs, 92, of Decatur died Thursday, Dec. 24, 2015. Funeral services will be at 2 pm on Sunday, Dec. 27, at Decatur First United Methodist Church with Dr. Hughey Reynolds officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Hartselle City Cemetery directly following the service.
Ellis was born on Jan. 1, 1923 in Chicago to Thomas E. and Hulda S. Baggs. He earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Vanderbilt University and a master’s in public administration from The University of Alabama. He retired from NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center as Deputy Director of the Electrical Division. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, a member of Decatur First United Methodist Church and a faithful member of “The Seekers” Sunday school class. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Stephen Ellis Baggs; and brother, Navy Cmdr. Charles Chaplin Baggs.

Elizabeth, Rowe, Sarah, Ford, Juliana and Baynard Baggs
Two great-granddaughters:
Caroline and Charlotte Baggs.
One Sister:
Ruth Guy of Charleston, SC.
