Funeral service for Ellis Michael “Mike” Owens, age 65, of Decatur, will be 11:00 a .m. on Saturday, March 23, 2024, at Parkway Funeral Home with Bro. Stanley Linderman officiating. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to service at the funeral home. Interment will be in Midway Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Owens, who died Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at his residence, was born December 9, 1958, in Michigan to Norman Qualion Owens and Betty Jewel Newton Owens Johnson. He was preceded in death by his father, and brother, James Norman Owens. Mike loved his family. His leisure time was spent fishing, hunting, and riding motorcycles, and he was an avid fan of Celtic Women’s Music. He attended Walden Chapel Church.
He is survived by his mother, Betty Johnson; stepmother, Shirley Owens; sister-in-law, Donna Owens; three sisters, Debra McCurry, Bonita Goodwin, and Ann Moreno; one nephew; three nieces; three great-nephews; and seven great-nieces.
Pallbearers will be Carven Denham, Jeff Chaney, Bryce Smith, Trent Amos, Ricky Marshall, T. J. Owens, and Horace Owens. Honorary pallbearer will be Ronnie McCurry
