Mr. Ellis Howell, age 85 of Silerton, departed this life Friday morning, February 6, 2015 at the Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
Mr. Howell was born in McNairy County August 18, 1929 to the late Florence and Hollis Howell. He lived in California for about 12 years, where he worked as a landscaper for a nursery, before moving to Hardeman County in 1967. He worked as a farmer prior to retirement and was a member of the Piney Grove Baptist Church in Silerton.
Survivors include his sister, Jean Hawthorne of Palm Dale, California; nephew, Myron Lee Hawthorne of Palk Dale, California; and several cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a nephew, David Lawrence Hawthorne, and an infant sister.
Charitable contributions made in memory of Mr. Howell may be sent to the Piney Grove Baptist Church or to Gideons International.
