Ellen Collier Scott, age 79, of Albertville, Alabama, formerly of Altamonte Springs, Florida, passed away on June 9, 2024.
Ellen was born on March 17, 1945, to the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Alex Collier and Geraldine Levey Collier. She grew up in Jacksonville, Florida, where she graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in 1963. Ellen furthered her education at Stetson University in Deland, Florida, earning a degree in History and Russian Studies, along with minors in Environmental Studies and Geology. She remained a proud alumna throughout her life.
Ellen had a passion for Russian culture and visited Russia on several occasions, making lifelong friends and inviting them to the United States to share in her love for cross-cultural exchange. She also traveled out west to study geology, bringing back a fascinating array of rock samples that showcased her curiosity and love for the natural world.
Ellen is survived by her devoted husband of 56 years, Frank Scott, Jr.; her sons, Frank Duncan Scott, IV and Ryan Haigler (Jennifer) Scott; and her cherished grandchildren, Frank Duncan Scott, V and Emmeline Taylor Scott. She is also survived by her siblings, Candace Fly, Charles “Bo” Edward Collier, and Cathleen Collier-Markulin, as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Monday, July 01, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Adams Brown Service Funeral Home.
Ellen’s legacy of love, curiosity, and cultural appreciation will be fondly remembered by all who knew her.
