Ella Louise Chandler Spangler passed away at home on Tuesday, January 17, 2017. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, January 19th 2017, at 2pm at King Cemetery on Cotton town Road, Leighton AL. Father Don Smith of Grace Episcopal Church will be officiating. The family will receive friends after the graveside service at the home of her son, Dr. Dan Spangler, with whom she had lived for the past 18 months.
Louise is survived by her children, Dr. Dan Spangler (Jo) of Leighton and Lou Ellen Spangler Wilson (Bob) of Oklahoma; grandchildren, Erin Spangler Blackburn (Brett) of Florence, Alison Spangler Flautt (Thomas) of Corinth MS, Chandler Wilson of Chattanooga TN; great grandchildren, Carrie Blackburn, Abigail Blackburn, James Daniel Flautt; sister Dorothy Chandler Quinn of Jacksonville FL; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Edgar Spangler Sr. and her parents, Frank and Leoma Chandler and her brothers.
Born on September 22nd 1930 in Colbert County Al, she moved to Huntsville with her husband for 35 years and then returned home for her last years. She was a very talented seamstress, cook, and gardener. Her family was often gifted with her creative needlepoints and she even created beautiful gowns for proms and recitals. She was a member of Leighton Public Library board where she was famous for contributing peanut brittle at the annual bake sale. A member of Leighton United Methodist church, she served as treasurer and a member of the choir for many years. Her other loves included the Leighton Civic Club and her Bridge Club. She will be sorely missed by her family.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the Leighton Public Library or charity of your choice.
