Funeral for Mrs. Ella Eva Swoope Key, 84 of Decatur will be Saturday, August 31, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Calvary Assembly of God-Beltline Campus with the Reverend George Sawyer officiating and inhumation to follow in East Lawrence Memorial Gardens. The body will lie in repose one hour prior to funeral with Reynolds Funeral Home directing.
Ella Eva Key was born August 10 1929, in Lawrence County to the late Johnny and Hettie Fendrick Swoope. She entered peacefully into eternal life on August 27, 2013, at Regency Retirement Home with her family by her side. She accepted Christ earlier in life and exemplified strong faith in the Lord. She was a member of Calvary Assembly of God. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Key; parents, Johnny and Hettie Swoope; brother, Earnest Swoope; and three grandchildren, George Swope, Michael Swope and Reginald Smith.
She leaves to cherish her loving memory six sons, George Swope of Chicago, Ill., Herman(Deborah) Russell of Dallas, Texas, Charles Swoope of Gadsden, Dwight (Hope) Swoope of Arlington, Texas, Robert L. (Kanilla) Key and Christopher Key, both of Decatur; three daughters, Linda (Dwain) Huff of Chicago, Ill, Denise Swoope and Cynthia (Dale) Bowman, both of Decatur; three brothers, J.D Turnbore of Detroit, Mich., Wallace Swoope of Decatur and Harold (Pat) Swoope of Detroit, Mich.; one sister, Frances Owens of Hillsboro; 26 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.
