Elizabeth Renay PalmerElizabeth Renay Palmer, age 73, of Spruce Pine, passed away on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at Helen Keller Hospital.
Renay was born in Russellville, Alabama on June 19, 1951, to Owen Thurston & Lula Mae Melton. She graduated from school at Shelby County High School. She was active in several churches in her lifetime and was a member of Columbiana Church of Nazarene. She sang in a quartet, taught Sunday School, and was a real prayer warrior. Her love for Jesus and dedication to teaching her family about Jesus and faith inspired everyone. She worked at Vulcan Binder, David Drugs in Columbiana, AL, and primarily as a homemaker. She loved canning, gardening, and flowers. She was known as Nanny to her grandchildren who all adored her. She was a kind soul and always happy to help anyone if they needed it. Her memories will be cherished by everyone who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Owen Thurston & Lula Mae (McAnally) Melton.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her husband, Thomas Palmer; son, Steven R. (Denise) Jones, of Tuscaloosa; Sherrie (Jzyk) Ennis of Trussville; sisters, Doris (Jerry) Wilson, Dublin, GA, Marie Fowler, Phil Campbell; grandchildren, Wesley (Jill) Jones, Helena, Darin Jones, Wilsonville, Jon Thomas Jones, Wilsonville, Nathan (Kylie) Jones, Birmingham, Forrest Jones, Tuscaloosa, Jzyk (Bromleigh) Ennis, II, Trussville, Brooke (Zach) Bolton, Moody, Faith (Preston) Burns, Alabaster, great-grandchildren, Alaina Jones, Arlen Jones, Clara Kathryn Ennis, Wren Charlotte Ennis; and a host of friends.
The visitation will be 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 01, 2024, at Spry Memorial Chapel. The funeral will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Shawn Logan officiating the service. She will be buried at Knights of Pythias Cemetery in Russellville. The pallbearers will be her grandsons.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to consider donating to the Hope Alive Worship Center, 3156 Bexar Avenue, AL 35570.
