Elizabeth "Liz" Aldridge Elizabeth “Liz” Aldridge 83, of Ooltewah passed away Thursday, March 12, 2026 at her home surrounded by family after a lengthy illness. Up until the end Liz maintained her kindness, compassion, love of family and friends. She leaves behind a profound legacy that will forever remind is how special it was to be raised in a home full of laughter and love, “Mimi’s” holidays were always filled with great food, fellowship and lots of little feet running through the house.
Born on November 2, 1942 in Charleston SC, Liz talked fondly of spending time on the beach with childhood friends. She moved to Decatur, AL in 1956 when her father transferred to Redstone Arsenal. She graduated from Decatur High School and soon afterwards started work at Worthington where she met the love of her life and husband of 61 years Don Aldridge. They started a family moved to Chattanooga in 1973.
Liz Aldridge was a loving wife and a nurturing mother to her daughter, Melani Aldridge McWhirter, Ooltewah; sons, Bill Aldridge, Ooltewah and Scott Aldridge, Baton Rouge, LA. A loving grandmother to Garrett McWhirter, Brandon McWhirter, Megan Cowart, Blake Aldridge, Olivia Aldridge, and Cole Aldridge and great-granddaughter, Holly McWhirter.
Liz and Don stayed active later in life traveling and staying active in Shriners.
She was a member of Sunnyside OES Chapter 359 and was a former Grand Worthy Matron for the State of Tennessee.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Billy Don Aldridge;
The family will receive friends at Heritage Funeral Home on Thursday,
March 19th from 5-7 pm. In lieu of flower, the family kindly request donations to the Shriner’s Children Hospital.
Mrs. Aldridge will be carried to Hartselle, Alabama for a graveside service on Saturday, March 21st at 2:00 at Hartselle City Cemetery 1100 Railraod St. Hartselle
