Elizabeth Jane “Betty” Rutledge, age 86 of LaFollette, Tennessee formerly of Moore County, passed away on Wednesday, June 16, 2021 at Tennova LaFollette Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born in Elizabeth, Pennsylvania on February 28, 1935 to the late Frances Lee and Helen Virginia (Kefover) Mayhugh. Before her retirement, Betty had been employed by the Moore County School System in the school cafeterias. In her spare time, she enjoyed working crossword and word search puzzles. Betty enjoyed spending time with her friends and family on car rides, Sonic stops, and at church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Dewey Rutledge; and step-daughter, Doris Lambert. Betty is survived by her loving daughters, Linda Gail Smith of Kershaw, South Carolina, and Brenda Lee (Pete) Shepherd of LaFollette; grandchildren, Elizabeth Johnson, Leigh Ben, Rhonda Lowe, Rachel Shepherd, Rebekah Shepherd, Justin Matthews, Brian Matthews, Benjamin Matthews, Samuel Smith, Autumn Smith, Brent Hubbard, and Greg Hubbard; and several great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 5-8 pm Friday, June 18, 2021 at Jennings-Moore-Cortner Funeral Home in Lynchburg. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, June 19, 2021 in the chapel of Jennings-Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Lynchburg Cemetery.
