Elizabeth “Betty” Delbridge Byrd, 81, of Huntsville, passed away Monday. Betty was born in Notasulga, AL, and worked as an RN at Crestwood Hospital prior to retirement. She was a longtime member of Hillsboro Heights Baptist Church, and enjoyed crocheting and gardening.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Byrd, sister, Marjorie Spain, and brother, Bill Delbridge. Survivors include her daughter, Nancy Byrd; son, Michael Byrd (DeAnna); grandchildren, Ryan (Crystal), Steven and Melissa Byrd; Olivia Champagne (Aaron), Hannah Shipley and Hunter Shipley; four great-grandchildren; and good friend, Karen Tacon.
Betty enjoyed a lifelong friendship of more than 70 years with Patricia Stanley of Basingstoke, England, that began when they were elementary school pen pals.
Visitation will be from 12 to 2 p.m. Friday, July 30th at The Body of Christ Church (formerly Hillsboro Heights Baptist Church), 3614 Drake Ave., immediately followed by the funeral at the church. Burial will be in Huntsville Memory Gardens.
