Elizabeth Ann “Liz” Boren, 79, passed away Saturday, January 6, 2018, at North Mississippi Medical Center Hospice in Tupelo, Mississippi. She was born in Pratts, Mississippi on March 24, 1938 to Elzie and Laskie Reeves Boren.
Liz graduated from Wheeler High School, and then went on to a Memphis business college. She lived in Memphis and Desoto County until after her retirement from Memphis Light Gas and Water where she worked for more than 30 years in the Engineering Department. Liz loved spending time with her friends and family enjoying good food and reading. Her love of all things beautiful and peaceful nature were contagious. She was a former member of Speedway Terrance Baptist Church in Memphis where she enjoyed teaching the Amerasian class, and was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Saltillo.
She is survived by sisters, Vertie Samples Tennyson of Bartlett, TN, Edna Samples Glover of Baldwyn, and Dorothy Boren Moore of Saltillo and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Clair Samples Erhardt, and Myrlene Samples Riley and brothers, Edward Samples, and Buford Boren.
A celebration of her life is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. on Friday, January 12, 2018, at 2 p.m. at Faith Baptist Church in Saltillo with Dr. Philip C. Ellis officiating. Visitation will be from 12 p.m. to service time at the church.
Honorary pallbearers will be Wes Moore, Ken Burroughs, Terrell Boren, Kenneth Samples, Doug Erhardt, Randy Roberts, Mitch Roberts and Bo Burroughs.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Faith Baptist Church Building Fund, St. Jude Childers Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105 or a charity of choice.
