Elfriede McGee, 80, of Huntsville, Alabama, departed on July 22, 2021.Elfriede, a German native, is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Bill McGee; 4 children, Linda Dupree (Ricky †), Karen Bearden (Robert), Katherine Sutton, William McGee Jr (Pamela); 8 grandchildren, Troy Allison, Joshua Allison, Caleb Allison, Michelle Stark, Brittany Stroup, Alyssa Sutton, Madison McGee, Nathan McGee; 10 great-great grandchildren; and sister, Ute Wolf (Marcus) of Ohio. Elfriede, called Oma by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, loved to have large family gatherings and always cooked and baked enough for everyone to take goody bags home. Thanksgiving and Christmas were her favorite times of the year. At Christmas, she would bake her German cakes and give them to friends. She was such a kind and giving person, she never met a stranger. Elfriede retired from Redstone Federal Union after over 20 years of service. After retirement, she enjoyed crafting with her husband and creating beautiful jewelry. They joined the craft show community and would set up their crafts locally and also travel out of town. They loved to travel together even if it was a day trip. Visitation will be held on July 26, 2021 from 9:00-11:00 am at Valhalla Funeral Home and Memory Gardens. A Celebration of Life will follow at 11:00 am in the Valhalla Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Brad Williams officiating. Mrs. McGee will be laid to rest at Valhalla Memory Gardens. The family invites you to join them back at the funeral home for light refreshments. In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
