Mrs. Elese Owen Griffin,93, of Florence passed away Saturday, February 2, 2013 at Glenwood Healthcare.
Visitation will be Tuesday, February 5, from 1-2 p.m. at Greenview Funeral Home with service following. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Town Creek. Officiating will be the Rev. Brian McIntyre.
She was born in Lawrence County, Alabama, March 10, 1919 to Elgin C. and Addie LeMay Owen.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edward L. Griffin; daughter, Elizabeth Brown; sister, Muriel Cash and brothers, Cecil and Herschel Owen.
She is survived by daughter Ann Stumpe(Lawrence) and grandchildren Addie Rolfs (Wayne), Billy Sexton (Brandy), John Sexton (Amber), Bradley Stumpe (Anna Kate), Thomas and Aaron Stumpe. Sisters, Elizabeth Keel and Helen Bowers; brothers, Clarence and James Owen. Four great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Billy Sexton, John Sexton, Bradley Stumpe, Thomas Stumpe, Aaron Stumpe and Bruce Gargis. Honorary pallbearers will include Will and Brandon Sexton and J.J. and Elivia Sexton.
Elese was a member of Shady Grove United Methodist Church and was active as long as she was physically able. She had a kind and gentle spirit and will be greatly missed by all who loved her.
We would like to thank the staff of Glenwood Station A for the loving care given to her during the past two years.
