Elease Barksdale, 98, of Athens, passed away on Thursday, February 17th, 2022. Mrs. Barksdale was born March 11th, 1923, to Arthur and Willie Mae Bowers.
Mrs. Barksdale is survived by her nieces Jennifer Threet and Belinda McMunn (Joel); nephews Paul Bowers, Jr. (Janice) and Arthur Lee Vinson; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her husband of forty years, Benton Barksdale; parents Arthur and Willie Mae Bowers; her brothers Alvin Bowers and Paul Bowers, Sr.; and sister Ruth Vinson.
Visitation will be Saturday, February 26th, 2022, from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the Limestone Chapel Funeral Home. Funeral service for Mrs. Barksdale will be Saturday, February 26th, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home. Burial will be at Roselawn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jerry Threet, Jason Threet, Julian Threet, Michael McMunn, Ryan McMunn, and Drew Davis.
Mrs. Barksdale was a member of Mt. Zion Church of Christ and later a member of Market Street Church of Christ. She enjoyed her many years as a schoolteacher.
