Mr. Elbert L. Collins Jr., age 90, passed peacefully in the comfort of his home in Arab, Alabama, on the afternoon of Tuesday, June 3, 2025. Born on May 5, 1935, in Morgan County, Alabama, Elbert was one of seven children born to Elbert Collins Sr and Elsie Mae McColough Collins.
Elbert shared his life with his beloved wife, Daphine Click Collins, with whom he celebrated an extraordinary 70 years of marriage. Together, they exemplified love and commitment, building a life and family rich with memories.
An avid outdoorsman, Elbert found joy in the simplicity of nature, especially through hunting and gardening. To those who knew him, Elbert was a hardworking individual who took pride in his roots and his contributions to the land he loved. During his professional working days Elbert could be found at Discount Building Supply in Guntersville, AL where he worked in sales.
Elbert’s legacy will be carried forward by his family, friends, and neighbors, who admired his dedication, generosity, and the enduring wisdom he shared throughout his years. Family members cherishing their memories are: wife, Daphine Click Collins; daughters, Jeannie Collins, and Cindy Saint; sister, Judy Tidmore. He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all whose lives he touched.
In addition to his parents, Elbert Sr and Elsie Collins, Elbert is preceded in death by his brother, John Collins; sisters, Lurlene Thompson, Ruth Briscoe, Dovie Denney, and Betty Stiles; and son in law, Greg Saint.
Family, friends and guests will celebrate Elbert’s life and lay him to rest at 1:00 pm on Thursday, June 5, 2025 at his gravesite in Mt. Oak/ Ruth Cemetery. Brother Randy L. Blakely will officiate. Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel entrusted with arrangements.
