Don was a cherished husband, father, grandfather and brother, whose life was woven with threads of love and passion. An enthusiast of golf, reading, and travel, he embraced the world with curiosity, leaving behind a tapestry of unforgettable experiences.
With a commendable 37-year tenure as an Instrumentation Technician at Arnold Engineering Development Center, Don’s professional legacy is one marked by dedication and proficiency. His contributions earned him respect and admiration from colleagues. Prior to working at AEDC, Don served his country in the United States Army where he was stationed in Fort Gordon, Georgia.
Don found joy in maintaining and manicuring his lawn where, with a heart full of care, he enjoyed transforming his yard into a sanctuary of peace, and at times, a golf chipping green. He was a true sports fan and an avid lifelong supporter of the Tennessee Volunteers, following them near and far. One of his fondest memories was traveling with the Vols to Omaha for the College World Series in 2021.
Of all of Don’s many life experiences, few brought him as much joy as his role of coaching Little League baseball where he won five championships. His commitment exemplified his dedication to not only his immediate family, but also the broader community, leaving an enduring impact on aspiring athletes.
Starting almost 45 years ago, Don and his loving wife became most known for their enjoyment of walking. You could find the two of them always together circling their neighborhood in Decherd daily.
To have been able to witness Don’s passion for life was nothing short of a blessing. He was the epitome of joy and will be missed dearly.
