Elaine Marie Schroader Tew – Obituary

Elaine Marie Schroader Tew, age 68, a resident of Spring Hill, passed away Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at her residence after a struggle with cancer. She was surrounded by family.

A funeral service will be held on Friday at 11AM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints: 2998 Commonwealth Drive, Spring Hill, TN 37174 with Bishop Jim Bickmore officiating. A visitation will also be held on Friday from 10-11AM at the church. A graveside service will be held on Saturday at 11AM at the Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Headland, Alabama. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Born on February 9, 1950 in Bellevue, Pennsylvania, Elaine was the daughter of Thomas Brown Schroader and the late Mary Lou Balbier Schroader. She married James Tew on October 10, 1969 in Winter Park, Florida. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Spring Hill. She attended the University of Florida and Seminole Community College. She also worked as a sign language interpreter in the Seminole County School System. Elaine enjoyed reading, quilting, and working with handicap children. She also loved dogs, doing Genealogy research, and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchild.

In addition to her husband and father, she is survived by her children: James Early Tew, II of Spring Hill, TN, Elizabeth Marie Karboski of St. Petersburg, FL, Thomas Alexander Tew of Columbia, TN, Amanda Jane Sumner of Spring Hill, TN; brothers: Kim Douglas Schroader of Hedgesville, WV, Alex John Schroader of Salem, OR, Eric Thomas Schroader of Chattanooga, TN; seven grandchildren; and one great grandchild.

Along with her mother, she was preceded in death by her brother, Keith David Schroader.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will include the members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Spring Hill.

Due to Elaine’s love of old, black dogs, she has asked that in lieu of flowers donations be given to: Old Friend Senior Dog Sanctuary: P.O. Box 93, Mount Juliet, TN 37121.
