Ela P Castillo, 94 of Huntsville, Alabama passed away peacefully in her home on October 28, 2026.
Visitation will be held at Good Shepherd Catholic Church on Monday, November 9, 2026, beginning at 10:00 AM with the funeral Mass following at 11:00 AM. Interment will be immediately after Mass at the columbarium at Good Shepherd Catholic Church.
Ela is survived by her devoted husband of 68 years, Oreste Castillo; and her daughters, Ela C Perry (Dennis), and Carmen Milligan (Steve); five grandchildren, Adam Perry (Alexis), Elena Miller (Matthew), Maria Jackson, Gloria Jackson and Bella Jackson; and two great- grandchildren, Maria and Ela Milller.
Ela spent many years teaching foreign language at Johnson High School. A deeply faithful woman, she and her husband had a deep commitment to the Perpetual Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, devoting more than 20 years to that ministry. She was involved in religious education to the Spanish speaking community at Holy Spirit and often provided translation services for homilies to the parish priest serving the Hispanic community. Ela and her husband were devoted members of Our Lady Queen of the Universe Church, Holy Spirit Catholic Church and Good Shepherd Catholic Church.
She was a creative person and expressed this through love of sewing, gardening and crafting. We are all blessed to have items that she has made for us over the years, and they now have become part of the legacy left behind to remember her. Her witness of faith and prayers for all of us have carried us and will continue as we all navigate the next chapters of our life.
