Mr. Edwin “Eddy” Hardin Caffee, 69, died Monday, November 6, 2017, at North MS Medical Center Hospice Unit following a five-year battle with cancer. He was born March 18, 1948 in Tupelo, MS, to Gibbs Hardin Caffee and Mary Alice Horton Caffee. He was a graduate of Shannon High School, attended Itawamba Community College, and studied through the extension service of Ole Miss. He married Jana Coon on September 23, 2006. He was the longest attending member of Pontocola Baptist Church where he served as Treasurer for many years. Eddy worked in the quality control office, employed by Super Sagless for 43 years with perfect attandence. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, being outdoors, playing and coaching baseball. He enjoyed attending all ballgames and was a number 1 fan of the Ole Miss Rebels and Shannon Red Raiders. He enjoyed working in his perfect yard, loved the Pontocola Community, and loved all animals. He served on cemetery committees for Troy Cemetery and Pontocola Cemetery.
A celebration of life service will be at 2 PM, Wednesday, November 8, 2017 in the Tupelo Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors with Bro. Greg Herndon and Bro. Fred Hartley officiating. Private burial will follow in Verona Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 PM – 7 PM and Wednesday from 12 noon to service time.
Those left to mourn his death are his loving wife, Jana Coon Caffee of Pontocola; his son, Wesley Hardin Caffee and daughter, Janna Caffee Stafford; stepson, Alexander Nelson (Katy) and stepdaughter, Morgan Nelson; brother, Ricky Caffee (Judy), all of Pontocola; 2 grandchildren, Kyleigh and Kaden Nelson; niece Lindsey Caffee Lollar (Chris) of Mooreville, and their children, Olivia, Madeline, and Riley; 1 cousin, H.B. Horton (Frances) of Troy community. He is preceded in death by his parents, Gibbs and Mary Alice Caffee.
Pallbearers will be his close family members.
