Edward Rudolph “E.R.” Ashley, age 93, of Albertville, Alabama, passed away on April 25, 2026. He was born on May 27, 1932, to the late George and Minnie Ashley.
Mr. Ashley proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War and also spent time stationed in Germany. He dedicated his entire career to AT&T, where he later retired. He was also a faithful deacon at Southside Baptist Church in Albertville.
He is survived by his wife of almost 59 years, Mary Ashley; his children, David (Kim) Ashley and Kelly (Jeff) Secor; grandchildren, Kyndal (Jesse) Widner, Mary Kathryn Hunt, Carrie Beth Ashley, and Maleah Ashley; and great-grandchild, Case Widner.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Melvin Ashley, Roy Ashley, Coleman Ashley, and Hazel Taylor.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, in the Adams Brown Service Chapel, with Pastor Kevin Brooks officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Memory Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Tim Simmons, Tim Hester, Westley Bynum, Les Blackstone, Ronald Kirkland, and David Lee.
The family will accept flowers, or donations may be made to Shepherd’s Cove Hospice or Southside Baptist Church in Albertville. Adams Brown Service Funeral Home is assisting the family.
