Edward Oneal Birdwell – Obituary

Edward Oneal Birdwell, 75, of Rogersville, died Thursday at his residence. Services will be 3 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Spry Funeral Home, Athens with Johnny Stringer and O.C. Birdwell officiating, with burial in Romine Cemetery. Visitation is from 1 p.m. until service Saturday at Spry Funeral Home.

Mr. Birdwell was born April 15, 1941 in Lauderdale County. He was a member of Confluence Church of Christ in Rogersville, retired from Monsanto, and ambulance driver for Rogersville Volunteer Ambulance Service. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Birdwell, Rogersville; sons, David Birdwell (Debra), Rogersville, and Richard Birdwell (Michelle), Athens; daughters, Laura Thacker (Mike), and Paula Garner, both of Rogersville; grandchildren, Christopher Garner and Erin Garner, both of Rogersville, Brandon Thacker (Savannah), Anderson, Brent Thacker (Rachel), Rogersville, Brittney Crumbley (Zane) and Brenna Birdwell, both of Rogersville, Preston Favors and Mallory Birdwell, both of Athens; great-grandchildren, Laken Wilder, Cade Garner, Avery Cochran and Jake Cochran and their mother, Laura Cochran; sister, Joyce Butler, Rogersville; sister-in-law, Shirley Birdwell, Rogersville; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by parents, Edward and Dorothy Birdwell; and brother, Robert Birdwell.

Pallbearers will be Christopher Garner, Brandon Thacker, Brent Thacker, Preston Favors, Zane Crumbley, and Tony Birdwell.
