Edward Barnes age 89 of Sulligent, AL passed away Wednesday, May 29, 2019 in the Generations of Vernon.
Born September 8, 1929 in Vernon, AL, he is the Son of the late Maggie Lee Elliott Barnes and Bro. Roy H. Barnes Sr. and the Husband of the late Jimmie L. Humbers Barnes. He had lived in Vernon and Sulligent most of his life. He was a member of Freewill Chapel and loved his church family. He loved gospel music and working in the garden and had been Plant Manager of Garment Plants.
He is survived by 3 Sons, Wayne Barnes (Carolyn), Douglas Barnes (Evelyn) and Keith Barnes all of Vernon, AL, 2 Step Daughters, Wanda Guthery (Roger) and Carolyn Egger (Roger) all of Sulligent, AL, 2 Step Sons, Kevin Leonard and Mitchell Leonard both of Leighton, AL, 3 Sisters, Dorothy Gideon, Judy Gideon, of Vernon, AL and Joyce Clark of Gardendale, AL, and 2 Brothers, Leon Barnes of Little Rock, AR and Kenneth Barnes of Decatur, AL, 6 Grandchildren and 13 Great Grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by a Brother Roy Barnes, Jr. and a Sister Lois Blount.
Services held Saturday, June 1, 2019 at 3:00 pm from the Freewill Chapel Church with Burial in the Wofford Cemetery. Bro. Leon Barnes, Bro. Arnold Sheets and Bro. Jerry Smith officiating.
